What is 'Human Book'?
'A Human Book system' refers to a library where people who have expertise and information in a specific field meet with readers who are in need of information and share or pass along the required contents. Thus, what the readers borrow is not the books, but humans (Human Book). We also call this a 'Human Library', or a 'Living Library'.
We go beyond the physical borders of 'a book' which is only limited to providing information, but rather expand and overcome its limits by sharing information through dialogue and conversation. By such a process, it defines a new form of a library.
1. We essentially become 'a book' and share wisdom and real-life experiences of various people. Thus, we wish for and pursue a human-centric society.
2. Since readers go through a list of Human Books and pick the Human Books that they would like to meet and consult with, they are given the chance to sit facing each other and have a chat with the human book. Since we get to hear directly from them, we can listen to their experiences, stories, and their thoughts in a livelier way. An experience that reading from a paper book can never endow us with.
3. We can ask questions right on the spot.
4. For people who cannot or did not write books, this may be a good chance to talk about their experiences, and convey their thoughts. They can find pleasure in doing so.
